• All the circus costumes in the film were borrowed from circus company
Feld Entertainment, which actually owned Barnum’s real life circus.
• The upbeat style of the film’s songs was to show how Barnum was ahead
of his time.
• Amanda Bynes, who portrayed Penny, ate up to 40 lollipops a day whilst
filming, concerning her father over her dental health.
• Many of the opening scenes were shot in Baltimore, but the rest in
Toronto.
• Meryl Streep and Madonna were originally considered for the role of Velma.
