• Actresses originally considered for the title role of Barbie in earlier drafts include Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway. After Margot Robbie was cast, she managed to get Gerwig on board to direct and screenwrite.
• Sasha and her friends, who criticise what Barbie represents, resemble the Bratz, fashion doll character by Mattel’s rival MGA.
• There was so much pink paint required for creating Barbieland that it led to a worldwide shortage of pink paint!

• Scrapped characters include a brother of Ginger named Nobby and the flock’s best egg producer Paxo.
• Director Nick Park had two pet chickens as a kid, which inspired him to create Ginger and Rocky.
• Animation is a long, difficult process, and the stop-motion in this film was no different. Only a few seconds of movie were animated per day, and only 3-4 chickens could be modelled in a week.
